Most candidates make at least three of these. Knowing them is half the fix.
Fix: Think aloud. 'Let me reason through this...' is a complete answer.
Fix: Practice ideas, not word-for-word answers. Stiffness kills authenticity.
Fix: Look at the person you're speaking to. Look slightly away when thinking.
Fix: Aim for 60–90 seconds per response. Stop. Let them ask for more.
Fix: Never. Reframe every negative as a learning experience.
Fix: Ask thoughtful questions. Curiosity signals maturity and genuine interest.
Fix: Know your strengths, goals, and experiences cold. Don't blank on your own story.
Fix: 'I have no weaknesses' destroys trust instantly. Honest + growth = respect.
